诗中的“我”和爱人漫步在幽深的月夜里，尽管夜色美好，但“我”有些疲惫，准备回去休息了。诗人认为爱情同样需要休养，而不是终日激情碰撞。正如剑鞘会被磨穿，爱情有时也会给人带来伤痛，只有张弛有度，才可保持爱情的新鲜感。两情若是长久时，又岂在朝朝暮暮。
